How To Make Small Batch Infused Butter With Mason Pot

Infused butter is a versatile ingredient that can be used in various recipes to add a cannabis twist. With the Mason Pot kit, making infused butter is super simple and hassle-free. So let's get started and learn how to make this delicious and potent butter.

Clarifying the Butter

To begin, we clarify the butter (optional) using the Mason Pot kit. Start by using the strainer provided in the kit and place it in the pot. This will help us achieve a perfect clarified butter.

Preparing the Herb

Next, let's prepare the herb. We will need about one-two grams of herb for this recipe. You can break it down by hand or use a grinder. The choice is yours. Once the herb is ready, screw the lid of the Mason Pot kit on, making sure to insert the silicone hole.

Decarboxylation

Now it's time to decarboxylate the herb. This process activates the cannabinoids in the herb, making them more potent. Preheat your oven to 240 degrees Fahrenheit (116 degrees Celsius). Place the Mason Pot kit with the herb inside the oven and let it bake for 40 minutes. This step is crucial for ensuring the potency of your infused butter.

Adding the Clarified Butter

Once the decarboxylation process is complete, it's time to add the clarified butter. You can add as much butter as you like, depending on how potent you want your infused butter to be. It is recommended to add enough butter to coat all the herb. Screw the lid back on tightly.

Infusing the Butter

Now it's time to infuse the butter with the herb. Place the Mason Pot kit back in the oven, this time at 190 degrees Fahrenheit (88 degrees Celsius). Let it infuse for a total of two hours. However, since this is a small batch, you can reduce the infusion time to one hour if desired.

Pressing the Infused Butter

After the infusion is complete, remove the Mason Pot kit from the oven. Carefully remove the thermometer probe and wipe it off. Unscrew the lid and get ready to press the infused butter. Take the Mason Pot Puck and place it in the kit. Use the press provided to push the puck down, ensuring that all the buds are at the bottom.

Straining the Butter

Next, strain the infused butter using the strainer provided in the Mason Pot Kit. This step is important to remove any plant material and ensure a smooth and creamy texture. Make sure to strain the butter thoroughly to extract every bit of the infused goodness.

Testing the Potency

To determine the potency of your infused butter, you can use a device like the T3 from tCheck. Simply turn on the device, place a sample of the butter in it, and use the accompanying app to get a reading. This will give you an idea of the concentration of cannabinoids in your butter.

Using the Infused Butter

Now that you have your homemade infused butter, you can use it in a variety of recipes. Add a tablespoon to your favorite dishes, such as baked goods, sauces, or even spread it on toast. The possibilities are endless!
